Week 23 in the war on cancer. Here are the highlights:
-A process to get hold of AZD9291 (Tagrisso) on compassionate use from Astra Zeneca has started. We hope this will soon result in a positive outcome. We are crossing our fingers.
-As the timeline of the above process is uncertain, we will (as it looks today) go ahead with stereotactic radiation of the growing lesion in the brain. This will, if all goes to plan, happen this coming Wednesday. Originally it was scheduled on 16th February, which would have been 5 weeks after the growing lesion was discovered.

Week 22 in the war on cancer. Could have been much better. Here we are:
-On Monday we learned, as we suspected, that there is also progression in the lungs. We hence have both progression in the brain and in the lungs. The good news is that no new lesions can be seen on the scans.
-As Dyanne has tested positive for the common resistance mutation T790M, the plan is to switch to a third generation tyrisine kinase inhibitor called Tagrisso (AZD9291). We hope to get this on compassionate use/extended access and we hope to get it soon.

So... week 21 in the war on cancer. Not the best of weeks unfortunately. Here goes.
MRI scan on Tuesday showed progression in the brain. We are not certain what is the best treatment option for this, but stereotactic radiation seems to be one option. We will await the feedback on this from our oncologist here in Oslo who we will meet on Monday and also what our relentless Niki thinks is the best option.
