Week 89: surgery

Written by Lars Haakon Soraas

Week 89 in the war on cancer is over. Here are the highlights:

  • Dyanne had surgery to remove a suspicious lesion in the brain on Wednesday.
  • She is recovering very well and has been “on leave” from the hospital this weekend. She will go back tomorrow to officially check out.
  • The less good news is that the surgeon thought that what he found looked like active cancer cells. And he did not manage to remove it all.
  • We have sent the tissue that was removed to several different places for analysis and potential future therapy. Logistics was a bit of a challenge and we have learned to never trust DHL. World Courier is much better (but more expensive…).

We expect to learn the results of the pathologists examination of the removed tissue some time this week. Together with the post-surgery MRI and other analysis being undertaken, this will guide future treatment decisions.

Have a good Sunday!
